DRUNK ELEPHANT: my HONEST opinion — would I actually purchase?

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415897″]

OK, so a few weeks ago I received a PR package from Drunk Elephant ++ asked you guys if you’d like to see a blog post / review on how I liked the products so, here we are.

The package they sent over contained a collection of their “Littles,” which is basically just sample sized versions of a few of their best selling products. I’ll be honest I used almost ALL of the product in the span of one + a half weeks. So it’s def safe to say that it’s more worth your money to just buy the individual products BUT I will say that this is an amazing way to get to know the products + see which you like / don’t care for.

Overall, I was honestly impressed by their products. I will say, the week I started using them is when I ALSO started being a lil extra crazy with my skincare (lmk if you wanna know what that looks like) so that has a little something to do with my opinion. However, this is more just a first impression I had with the products + telling you guys whether or not I think it’s worth the purchase because DE can def be a little more on the pricey side.

LET’S GET INTO IT

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415896″]

Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser

So the regular size of this Cleanser retails $32 which is a little more on the pricey side when it comes to cleansers. Personally, I am not super picky when it comes to what I wash my face with so it I don’t usually splurge in this department. To be honest, I wasn’t obsessed with this product, I felt like the consistency was a bit sticky + bland.

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415899″]

C-Firma™ Day Serum

This is their Vitamin C serum and it retails $80 which is super pricey but it is a HUGE bottle + would prob last forever. I used this during the day + I honestly really liked it. I have tried a few other vitamin C serums and I found the actual product pretty comparable. I usually use Le Dew Citrus Sunshine — this product retails ONLY $24, which is wayyyy more in my budget so I prob wouldn’t repurchase this product if I am being honest with you guys. I will link that here for you guys, if you’re interested.

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415900″]

B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum

OK, I promise this post isn’t ALL negative, I actually fell in love with this product + I plan to purchase it. I have pretty normal to dry skin so I am ALWAYS looking for some extra hydration ++ this product does not disappoint. The price point is $52, which is expensive but I honestly don’t know a product quite like this that would compare + once again, it’s a huge bottle. I really felt like this gave my skin a healthy glow + overall kept my skin extra hydrated (like, even overnight). I use this morning + night and I swear my skin just looks a little extra plump because of it (AND my light stim, of course).

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415906″]

T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum

Before trying this product, I had never tried out a designated “night” serum ++ I honestly loved it. I would 100% repurchase this product. I applied this nightly ++ I noticed my skin tone looked super even + smooth. This product just glides on your skin + feels so dang good. Honestly if you’re looking to try anything from DE, TRY THEIR SERUMS. You will not be disappointed, trust me.

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415902″]

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

I know a lot of people are scared of oils but they really are good for your skin, guys. I actually really enjoyed this product. I specifically used it on the more wrinkle prone spots of my face (under-eye, forehead) + it def helped minimize that. This retails $40, so I am not sure if I’d repurchase to be honest just because it doesn’t feel necessary in my skincare routine BUT if you’re into oils—this is def one to try!

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415903″]

C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream

So I quit using eye cream just because it’s pretty pricey + I am not SUPER concerned about all that yet, BUT after trying this, I will say, I  def wanna add eye cream back into my skincare routine. This product retails $64 which is honestly outrageous but it is an amazing product ++ you get a lot for your $$$. I think when it comes to eye cream, what’s most important is just using SOMETHING. So I am going to link a few fairly priced eye-creams below for you guys.

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3501218″]

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415904″]

Umbra Tinte™ Physical Defense SPF 30

OK THIS IS THE ONE PRODUCT FROM DE THAT I AM OBSESSED WITH. I had to put that in all caps because that’s just how much I love it. This is a tinted sunscreen that retails $36 ++ is so worth your $$$. It goes on super smooth, not sticky (like your average sunscreen). More like a BB cream with a really pretty tint. I love wearing this underneath makeup, or just by itself for a pretty-clean look. I 100% will be repurchasing this. Honestly a must-have for summer.

[show_lookbook_widget id=”415905″]

Protini™ Polypeptide Cream

LASTLY, this is a version of their moisturizer ++ I am not gonna say much about it because I honestly wasn’t a huge fan. I am pretty picky with my moisturizers + this one just didn’t do much for me. I am the type of person who is into smells ++ all that and that’s one thing that kinda put me off to this product — it’s a little too bland for me.

ALRIGHT.. so that’s it for the products I was able to try. Overall, I love Drunk Elephant as a brand +++ plan to test out more of their products. I honestly HIGHLY recommend testing out their “littles” for yourself (we all have different skin ++ needs). I am also going to link below some other options they have for sample versions – a day + night serum set. Which basically has all the products I approved of, win-win. I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post + let me know if I should start doing more reviews like this!

new year, new obsessions

new year new obsessions 2I haven’t done one of these since November…so needless to say I have a TON of new brands + products to share with you guys that I have been lovin’. With that being said, I am gonna just get into the good stuff because I have a whole lot to say about my January favorites.

One of my new years resolutions is to just get back into my skincare routine everyday—morning + night. You guys know I am a lil crazy about my skin + I’m always testing out new stuff. However, in the past few months I have actually stuck to the same products. The only thing I usually switch up with my skincare routine is moisturizer / cleanser because I’m not super picky / specific about those + like to try out new stuff. I do want to add a little disclaimer that that I have been using these specific products for up to 1 month or more + I plan to repurchase them all. I have received a few of the products from the brands but I just want to put out there that this is not an AD or sponsored blog post, I just genuinely love these products. Anyways, let’s get into it:

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3487071″]

Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub: I exfoliate my skin with this after cleansing about 3-4 times per week ++ it’s really helped even out my skin tone. I def notice a difference when I’m using it regularly. It has all natural ingredients including coffee grounds (yum), rosehip + coconut oil. Basically all the good stuff in one bottle.

GlamGlow Thirsty Mud: I honestly don’t know how I haven’t mentioned this in a blog post before but this is honestly the HOLY GRAIL of moisturizers. I use this product when my skin needs some extra TLC + feels dry. I always say this but I really believe that if you’re not super into skincare you could easily get away with using this one product by itself, it’s just that good.

Glossier Solution: This was my first time ever trying a chemical exfoliator ++ it’s seriously changed the skincare game for me. I use this morning ++ night to get the full effect and it really works. My skin overall looks brighter, clearer +++ feels soooo good. It also helps with acne!! I never have breakouts while using it. I didn’t bring this with me to Colorado and I 100% noticed a difference. Needless to say, I will be repurchasing this stuff for a looong time.

Paula’s Choice BOOSTER: I’ve been using this as a spot treatment for the longest ++ it really works. If you struggle with breakouts / redness, you should def try this product.

LANEIGE sleeping lip mask: If you’re following me on Instagram, you already know I’m obsessed with this product. It’s technically an overnight sleep mask but I wear it ALL the time. You can always find this in my purse or on my bedside table because I can’t live without it now. Makes your lips feel soo dang soft, gives me a pretty pink tint ++ plumps your lips. Did I mention it smells like berries???

Dewycel CICA Plus Balm: I had a Korean skincare brand sent this to me + not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical because I’d never heard of them BUT after one use, I fell in love with this stuff. Seriously the most hydrating product I’ve ever used +++ my skin has never felt so soft.

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3496283″]

Kylie Lip Kits: I honestly never understood the hype around Kylie Lip Kits but I finally caved and went to ULTA (thank god they carry them now) ++ got me some lip kits. I have shade Koko K (more of a pink) ++ Exposed (orangeyyy tones). The formula is 10/10 + seriously smells like cupcakes. I just love how each liquid lip comes with a matching lip liner. These are the lip products I wear pretty much everyday, I switch between shades.

Too Faced Dew You Foundation: If you follow me on IG you’d know I’ve been struggling to find a good foundation for a while now. My ultimate fav is the Too Faced Peach Perfect so I thought I’d try out their new Dewy line. This stuff is AMAZING. Seriously smells like watermelons (idk why I love good smelling makeup lol). It’s full coverage but it’s meant to give your skin a dewy finish — which it 100% does. I’ve always wondered how girls can wear a full face of makeup and still have such hydrated looking skin +++ I think I found the secret. ( I wear shade Vanilla in all Too Faced products).

Wander Beauty Glotion: Wander beauty is one of my new fav makeup brands. Their “Glotion” is my favorite primer type product to apply before makeup for an extra dewy finish.

Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer: This is another product I’m behind on trying. I picked this up when I got the foundation + I love it! Smells like chocolate and has a pretty matte finish.

Too Faced Lip Injection Gloss: THIS STUFF. If you want some extra pout without actually get lip filler, I highly recommend trying this stuff out! It actually works.

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3496284″]

Vitruvi Stone Diffuser: I’m soooo in love with this brand. I had a diffuser from Amazon before and I honestly can tell a difference with the quality in so many ways. I have the white stone diffuser + use it every single night + honestly during the day. My favorite blends right now are grapefruit, pacific + boost.

They do carry Vitruvi on Amazon but I actually have a code for you guys if you shop through this specific link you can save 20% off. You can use code vitruviXjamie at checkout for a discount!!

HUM Collagen Pop: I’ve been trying to get a better intake on my vitamins / supplements ++ one of those vitamins is collagen. Collagen is soooo so good for your skin, hair + nails. It’s actually also rlly helpful for stomach issues + your overall gut health. I honestly do notice a difference with my stomach problems when I intake collagen daily. I prefer these little fizzies because it’s SO easy + reminds me to drink water. The taste isn’t amazing but I don’t mind it!! I did notice that adding lemon helps with the taste. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of taking tons of oral vitamins so this is an easier option if you’re the same way.

Love Hair dry shampoo: OBSESSED WITH THIS STUFF. I definitely prefer the powder form of dry shampoo now that I’ve tried this. I honestly use this everyday, even with my clean hair to add extra volume + texture. It works so well + is in a small enough bottle to throw in your purse — which is my fav.

BLOGGING 101

HI LOVELIES,

It’s been a MINUTE since my last blog post so if you’re new here, WELCOME. If you aren’t new here, you’re probably wondering where I’ve been for the past two months…and to be quite honest, I just needed a mini break. Since I started my blog last May, I have been blessed with so many amazing opportunities, whether that be collaborations with brands, freelance work as a graphic designer, selling my own presets, + other random gigs here n’ there. Starting this blog has opened up so many doors and given me opportunities I never dreamed of happening, better yet, happening in the short time span of less than a year. I don’t say this nearly enough but I am so incredibly grateful for you guys for even reading this blog post right now, liking my posts, or just doing whatever you can do to support me. I realize this sounds so sappy already but I am honestly so passionate about this topic because the decision to start my blog truly changed my life.

So you might be thinking to yourself, “well, why did you start this blog in the first place?” and there’s really no short answer to that question. Honestly, if you told me a year ago today that I’d be doing what I am doing now for a job, I would 100% laugh in your face. To be real with you guys, this time last year was not a good time for me; I was incredibly depressed, lost + had no clue what my future would hold. That’s honestly a blog post in itself but to sum it up, with the help of my boyfriend and my family I was able to get through it + I started seeing a therapist. Fast forward a few months later, it was summer + I was in such a better place and I was really motivated to just do something for myself that would allow me to be creative / keep me busy. I have always been a creative person whether that be with photography, design + writing so I thought why not just combine the three and start a blog. I am also an English major and I knew I wanted to go in a different direction than teaching or the usual route, so I thought this would be a good place to start + build my resume. I actually even had a blog back when I was in high school (before blogging was even a thing, really) but I was way too afraid to go public with it so it really wasn’t an out of the box thing for me to do. I guess the only difference this time was that I had way more confidence in myself. I always have girls DM me asking “how did you deal with other people’s opinions when you first started your blog?” and honestly, I had been struggling with finding my own happiness for so long and right from the start, blogging made me so genuinely happy, and just motivated to live my life and I really don’t think anyone’s opinion could get in the way of that. Not only was I finally feeling like myself again but I was discovering myself at the same time and it was just such an empowering feeling and really kept me going. I think the best advice I have for someone who is interested in starting a blog is just to do it. Like right now…right this second. Obviously you gotta want to start a blog for the right reasons, it can’t just be for the “free stuff” or pretty Instagram photos. Trust me when I say this is a full-time job and you gotta be 100% in it for the right reasons to be successful. So if that resonates with you and you’re passionate about it then you should just do it. You have absolutely nothing to lose and if you’re only fear is that people might tease you, then just think about how they’re going to feel in two years when you’re working for your dream brand and they’re still wasting their time worrying about what other people are doing. Can’t relate…JK GUYS, that was sassy, but really at the end of the day people will judge you no matter what you’re doing, so just do what makes YOU happy. Also, you’ll probably be surprised at how much support you’ll receive because I know, I did.

OK, so if you’re still reading this, I probably convinced you to start a blog and now you’re sitting here wondering, “How the heck do I start a blog?”

Lucky for you, this is pretty simple nowadays because there’s a million different platforms and resources like YouTube, that will teach you how to do literally anything. That’s pretty much how I figured everything out myself. I use WordPress because long-term it just made sense for me with all the upgrades they offer but I know a lot of blogger gals that use Squarespace + Wix. I would just test them all out and see what you’re most comfortable with. I had prior experience with WordPress from my first blog so this was my first choice.

As for designing my blog, I was able to work with Bluchic + use their Isabelle theme, which made my life WAY easier. If you’re not super tech savvy, I def recommend using a pre-made theme. Bluchic has tons of different styles so I will be sure to link their stuff here. However, when I first started I just used a basic theme that was available on WordPress. I think the most important tip for you guys is just to start with whatever resources you have. You will learn as you go, and have more opportunities to upgrade your site, later on.

Now that you have a basic idea of how to start a blog, I am gonna answer a few specific questions from you guys about blogging:

Did you reach out to brands first or did they reach out to you?

So when I first started, I tried to get as much content as I could before I just started reaching out to brands. I made sure to have a few blog posts up + content on my Instagram to show that I was actually blogging and could offer them something in exchange for product. Once you feel confident enough, I highly recommend reaching out to brands. You might feel silly sliding into the DM’s of some of your favorite brands but you gotta put yourself out there somehow. I would use the DM’s as a starting place to get a point of contact / e-mail because that is just way more professional and will give you more room to pitch your ideas to the brand. It’s important to have a pitch ready because you have to understand that brands are constantly getting e-mails and it’s more likely that you’ll land a collab if you already have an idea in mind. ALSO, keep it noted that you will probably get ghosted / rejected by a lot of brands and that’s totally normal. It happens to everyone and honestly, still happens to me sometimes, so don’t feel bad lol. Keep posting your own content— not everything has to be sponsored. It’s almost like you’re building your resume at first. Brands will reach out to you once you have good content + good engagement.

How do you know if a brand is legitimate about working with you + not just trying to scam you?

So this is definitely something to be aware of when you first start blogging because you will most likely want to work with any + every brand that reaches out to you, and there are tons of scams out there. I think the number one thing is to make sure the brand is legitimate (google them, look for a website, read reviews, you can even look on their Instagram page and find girls they’ve worked with in the past and DM them lol — this has happened to me so it’s not that weird). One of the #1 signs of a scam is if they’re trying to get you to pay money. You shouldn’t have to pay anything. I remember when I first started, I got tons of messages like this and I actually fell for it once so trust me when I say this. If a brand is only offering you what appears to be a large discount on a product + you have to buy it, it’s most likely a scam and the quality of the product isn’t worth the money anyways. I have actually had a few girls DM me in the past, so if you’re looking for a second opinion feel free to ask because it can be hard to tell!

How did you grow so fast?

This is probably my most asked question from you guys and I never know how to give a short answer on Instagram. To be honest, the reason I have been able to grow so fast is because I’ve put a lot of my own time + work into it. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it and pretend like I just started posting pretty photos + gained a following. Since I started my blog, I have treated it like more than a job and put in hours every single day into it. Whether that be posting on Instagram, creating content, engaging with you guys, connecting with other bloggers or brands. I have always had an obsessive personality to the point where I’m either utterly obsessed with something or I just don’t care and this is just something I am obsessed with. There is so much passion behind it and just being able to express myself in a creative way keeps me sane, tbh. Obviously, there’s gonna be times when growth is slow + you will feel discouraged but it’s just important to remember why you started. It’s so easy to fall a victim to comparison when your job revolves around social media, but I think what helps me the most is just focusing on my own journey. Getting to where you want to be is great, but I think what’s even greater is HOW you got there. Nowadays, you can rush the process and buy your following but at the end of the day I think it’s way more rewarding to take the extra time and be able to look back and know that you achieved this all by yourself. That’s my honest opinion about it— there is no secret to this, it’s honestly just what you put into it.

October + November Favorites

IMG_6930 3.PNG

Happy ~aLmOSt~ December Babes!!

If you keep up with my blog, first of all, I love you, and secondly you may have noticed I forgot to do a favorites post for the month of October. To be simply put, I didn’t have too many new products that I was crazy about that month and I never want to just put together a bunch of crap just for the sake of putting up a post. However, I do love favorites posts…one might even say they’re my favorite. (I just cringed too, it’s okay) So I am planning on keeping this trend going and when I run out of things to feature again, I will most likely combine two months like I am doing right now. It’s funny because if I was talking in person that would probably take like less than a minute to explain but it just feels so dragged on typed out. Anyways, for some reason I feel the need to explain myself a lot (it’s a bad habit) so if you don’t like that just skip this part and look at the pretty pictures of products because I’d probably do that too, tbh.

IMG_6931.png

IMG_6897.PNG

Glam Glow Thirsty Mud Hydrating Treatment: I haven’t talked about Glam Glow on here for a while and that’s mostly because it’s a bit more on the pricier end than other skincare brands and I’m ballin’ on a budget. With that being noted, I was SO excited when Dilliards (department store back home for you Californians) was having a buy 1 get 1 half off sale on their whole beauty department. Seriously whenever there is a sale on Glam Glow, I have to splurge because it’s so worth it. If you’re someone who isn’t super into skincare and doesn’t want to spend $$$ on a bunch of different products, I highly recommend Glam Glow for you because you can honestly get away with just using their masks + moisturizers alone. Whenever I’m feeling lazy, this is my go-to nightly product. I’ve tried tons of their stuff so I am going to link a few of my favs down below for you guys.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow: This is for all of you blonde babes out there. I have struggled with my eyebrows for the longest. I prefer getting them tinted because it makes my life SO much easier when I’m getting ready in the morning. Plus, I personally prefer the look of blonde hair + darker eyebrows on myself. I actually got them done back home over break and I suddenly remembered why I am obsessed with tinting. It seriously makes your life feel easier guys. However, the only issue is that it’s not legal here in California for some reason, SO I have to do it myself (currently typing this and wondering if I am going to go to jail for outing myself on the internet). Anyways, I found a tint kit on Amazon and I wanted to share that with you guys. I am going to link the brand I found below, and I’ll keep you updated on how that works out for me.

Side note: I keep getting sidetracked because I haven’t written a blog post in so long and I feel like I’m catching up with my old friend or something and I just want to update you guys on everything in my life so I’m sorry if this is the most scatterbrained blog post ever but I promise that eyebrow story DOES have a point and I am getting to it now.

OK SO, the reason I felt the need to inform you on my eyebrow endeavors is because I found a new eyebrow product I prefer over brow wiz (which has been my OG since like 2016) so this is kind of a big deal. Since it’s so much easier filling in my brows when they’re tinted, I decided to try out the Dip Brow Pomade and it’s WAY easier and looks so much more natural. Along with the pomade, I got the Anastasia brush that came with it and that makes it so much easier to make the little hair strokes. I got the color soft brown in the pomade and dark brown in the tint kit because I’m psycho. Jk, it fades super easily so I prefer to just go darker.

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil: The name of this stuff just sounds fancy and the packaging is adorable. I keep it out on my desk because it’s just that cute. Gisou actually gifted me this product, but this is by no means sponsored. I genuinely love this stuff. If you haven’t noticed from my last few blog posts, I LOVE honey scented products. It’s my favorite thing ever and this smells amazing + makes your hair SO soft.

Laneige Lip “Sleeping Mask”: I kinda feel annoying at this point still talking about this but like at the same time I am kinda obsessed so I kinda don’t care. This “Sleeping Mask” is the best thing since sliced bread, I use it every second I can. My LIPS ARE SO DRY in the winter and it’s tragic and this has solved all of my problems. It honestly feels like your healing your lips. I don’t know what else to say, you just NEED to try it for yourself and thank me later. Also, just realized there are like 4 different flavors and I want them all so I am going to link those down below too.

Bondi Sands Self Tanner + Mitt: So if you know me personally, or you’ve followed my blog for a bit you would know that I am a self-tan freak. I am not a big fan of laying in the sun and I just don’t think it’s worth it…there’s just a lot of risks that I don’t want to cover right now but I think we all know what I am getting at. Anyways, I’ve used St. Tropez years…like since high school…and I think I found a new self-tanner. Bondi Sands is based out of Australia, which is fun, and their stuff smells like coconuts. The smell is 100x better than St. Tropez and idk why but I feel like it lasts longer too. Plus the MITT…is amazing. It’s not cheaply made and works SO Good. I’m pretty sure it’s cheaper too. So if you’re a self-tan freak like me, you gotta check this one out.

My style right now is kinda just really cozy and trying to stay warm. I went home for break and I was freezing but also excited because I could finally wear some winter clothes without feeling uncomfortable + sweaty. Winter in California is so funny to me because it’s basically the same temperature as it was in the summer but suddenly everyone you know is wearing uggs and beanies. I’m allowed to make that joke because that’s 110% ME. All month I’ve been wearing my fuzzy teddy jacket, docs, my favorite Levis + any cozy sweater I can find because it’s November so, duh.

Docs: I’m really happy that these have made such a comeback because I got a pair of black velvet docs for Christmas back in HS and now I wear them all the time. I just recently picked up a pair of the white, leather ones and I am obsessed. I just love how I feel so powerful when I wear my docs (r u ok). They honestly just elevate any outfit and make you look a lot cooler than you really are. Idk why, but just trust me on that. I am gonna link a few dupes below for you guys, because there are so many out there and they’re wayyyy more reasonably priced.

Levis: Levis look good on everyone, don’t @ me. I wanted to give a lil promo here for Jeans By Keely. She is so cool and sells fixed up vintage Levis so make sure to check it out.

Teddy Coat:  This is just a staple. You need it.

QUAY Blue Light Glasses: This one might seem really unnecessary and kinda stupid but I think they’re cute and super on trend right now so idc. Fun fact about me, I am actually very much blind and have to wear contacts everyday and I hate wearing my glasses to see just because it gives me a headache…BUT I love the look of glasses. I like looking sophisticated sometimes. So if you’re crazy like me, this is the perfect solution and you’ll protect your eyes from the harmful rays of your cellphone at the same time. 🙂

I have been moved into my apartment for months now, and I still haven’t given you guys an updated apartment tour/blog post because I am ALWAYS wanting to change things up. So i’m sorry, I don’t know if that post will ever come but in the meantime I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces I have in my apartment right now.

Grafomap: I actually did a collab with Grafomap in the past but I wanted to mention this because I honestly love mine so much. If you are from out-of-state or have a friend who’s out of state, this is such a cute and thoughtful gift idea. I have a really. hard time finding wall art so I think a map is a cute way to decorate with some meaning behind it.

Microwave/Coffee Cart: If you live in a tiny space like me, this is such a good idea for your kitchen! I didn’t want to use up all of my counter space with my microwave so I found this little cart on Amazon for pretty cheap. It’s such a great addition to my kitchen. I have my microwave on the middle shelf so it’s not super bulky and it’s out of sight. Then I have my Keurig and coffee/tea containers on top! I wanted to mention this because I think my last apartment post featured my old coffee cart, which is now my mail cart… I really need to get my ish together and give you guys a tour /:

Christmas Candles: I am candle obsessed, I always have at least burning in my apartment at all times. I wanted to mention a few of my favorite Christmas candles because it’s that time of the year and these make your home feel SO cozy. I am going to link a few below so make sure you check those out.

Christmas Lights: I somehow found these lights at Target for $2.99 (idk why but every year I feel like they’re so expensive) and they’re such great quality so I had to mention them. I have some around my mail cart and my mirror and it feels so much cozier already. Lights are an easy way to make a smaller space feel more homey and festive for the holidays.

Mini Tree/Holiday Decor: I personally love decorating my apartment for the holidays because it just feels so cozy. I mean, who doesn’t want to end their night with Christmas lights + a cup of tea…it’s the best. I already have a little tiny tree in my apartment and I actually set it on my TV stand. I am planning on going to a craft store and getting some burlap for the tree skirt because I love that look. I wanted to feature some decor that I found on Target that I love just in case you haven’t started decorating.

Clothing Rack: I have a pretty decent sized closet but I wanted to get a clothing rack for my clothes from collabs + stuff that I need to shoot. This has honestly made my life so much easier because it’s right in front of my face and it helps me keep track of everything I have to shoot. So I highly recommend one of these if you’re an influencer because they’re so handy + this was about $13.

BHU keto Protein Bars: These are vegan and keto friendly and taste exactly like cookie dough. They’re amazing! I’ve found them at Target and on campus at SDSU.

TAZO Vanilla Bean Macaron Tea: I have been trying to stick to only 1 cup of coffee per day. But I always need a little pick me up and this does the trick. It tastes so good with a little splash of milk. If you’re a tea person, I highly recommend trying these ones out.

Oat Milk: I just recently discovered Oat Milk and it’s my new fav. If you’re in SD go to Better Buzz and order an Oat Milk latte…you’ll fall in love.

Sunday Scaries Gummies: I have mentioned how I struggle with anxiety in the past, and up until a few months ago I could never really find things that helped me long-term. CBD has genuinely helped SO much. It doesn’t have any THC so don’t worry about that, kids. It really just relaxes your mind. I highly recommend taking some gummies before you go to sleep. If you’re someone who struggles with anxiety, I highly recommend trying CBD out. I will say, it’s not for everyone but it’s worth a shot!

You can shop Sunday Scaries here, and use my code JAMIELYN10 for discount!

The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide

gift guide title

Hey Babes!

I am actually back home in Lexington for break this week + I am so happy about it! It is MUCH colder here than San Diego, so I’m finally starting to get into the holiday spirit. I am planning on spending this much needed free-time catching up on e-mails, content + Christmas shopping! I know Thanksgiving is still a thing + hasn’t happened yet but I wanted to put this up before Black Friday + Cyber Monday sales because that’s the absolute best time to shop for gifts. I had a bunch of different guides in mind for different personalities + such. So, instead of posting a bunch of separate blog posts I am just gonna add them all into categories here!

P.S. I will most likely be posting my black Friday + cyber Monday picks on my IG story so look out for that!

My 5-Minute Nightly Skincare Routine

skincare-2.png

Hello Lovelies!

First off, I just wanted to welcome you guys to the new + improved Faithfulluxe. I decided it was time to upgrade and revamp the site + I’m loving the way it turned out! I noticed I get a lot of questions about how I started a blog + which platform I use so I am planning a post this week where I walk you guys through the whole process, so stay tuned for that!

In the meantime, I am so excited to share my nightly skincare routine with you guys. It’s been way too long since my last skincare post + that is mostly because I wanted to give myself a reasonable amount of time to make sure I absolutely love the products before I share them with you guys! I know keeping up with a nightly skincare routine can feel a bit tedious but it’s SO important and honestly helps your skin the most, so I tried my best to simplify mine + make it little easier for you guys! Please keep in mind that I am super into skincare so this whole routine might seem a bit intimidating at first, but I promise it takes me around 5 minutes before I go to sleep. Also, I wanted to mention I do have normal-to-dry skin so these products work best for me. If you do have a different skin type and are weary about these products, feel free to DM me because I love skincare and have tried tons of different brands so I can definitely recommend some products to you!

Now let’s get to the good stuff. Here is my step-by-step 5 minute nightly skincare routine:

1539640168618.JPEG

Step 1: Remove Makeup + Cleanse

Now this first step really depends on the day. I’ll be honest, I usually only wear makeup 2-3 times per week so if that’s the case I always make sure to remove my makeup with my Olay Daily Facial Wipes. These aren’t pictured but I will be sure to link them down below for you guys because I absolutely love these! I started using them to avoid excess oil for my eyelash extensions (you should stay clear of oil if you have lash extensions) + they work like a charm. I honestly prefer them over any makeup wipes I’ve ever tried because they don’t leave your skin feeling greasy.

Once my skin is makeup-free, I always cleanse! My go-to face wash is the Farmacy Clean Bee ultra gentle facial cleanser. I have seriously been obsessed with this product since the first time I tested it out. First of all, it smells like honey and chamomile, which is so relaxing before bedtime. It always leaves my skin feeling super fresh and dewy. I love Farmacy because they are cruelty free + super cautious about what they put into their products. Something I have been trying to pay more attention to when buying anything is the ingredient list. It’s really refreshing to find a brand that focuses on clean beauty so I am excited to share this product with you guys!

Step 2: Apply Serum + Moisturize

Skin Serums are probably the one product most people tend to go without in their skincare routine. Serums are usually used for fine-lines, wrinkles, uneven skin-tone and brightness. It’s definitely not a necessity if you’re on a budget but if those are your main concerns, I highly recommend trying one out because they do work! I started using the Ole Henrickson Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum every night before bed + I have really noticed a difference with my skin tone.

After I quickly apply my serum, I always moisturize. My go-to night-time moisturizer has been the Ole Henrickson Goodnight Glow Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme. This is from the same line as my serum so I think it really helps to use them together. They are both super hydrating and leave your skin feeling so soft. Since they are meant for night-time use they have a lavender scent, which is so relaxing. I actually keep mine in my fridge so it’s chilled when I apply it. This is SO refreshing, I highly recommend.

Now this last product I use one to two times per week in my nightly skincare routine. The Farmacy Honey Savior all-in-one skin repair salve is basically like a heavy duty moisturizer. On days when my skin is feeling extra dry, I apply this on top of my Goodnight Glow for some added hydration. This might sound like a lot but when I first tried this duo, I woke up with such dewy and soft skin. This stuff works amazing + once again, is filled with such clean ingredients.

Step 3: Jade Roller Time

This step is probably going to sound extra to someone who isn’t super into skincare but I had to mention it because I love my jade roller. I keep mine in the fridge (pro-tip) + I always use it after moisturizing.

Overall, the benefits of jade rolling include: reduced puffiness + inflammation and it can also help smooth out fine lines + wrinkles.

Honestly, I just enjoy the way it feels. It makes your regular everyday skincare routine feel a little more glamorous. I think it’s super important to treat yourself and try to make skincare more fun + relaxing, as opposed to a chore. I will link some super affordable one’s for you guys down below so you can try it out yourself!

Step 4: Masking Time

I decided to add this step at the end because it’s not vital to a nightly routine but I love to do a good mask 2-3 times per week. Since it is pumpkin spice season, I had to mention my absolute favorite Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme mask. This mask is super quick + easy. You don’t have to leave it on for long + you basically rub it into your skin to exfoliate when your done. This leaves your skin feeling SO soft + it smells like pumpkin pie (perfect for this fall szn).  Whenever I add this to my nightly routine, I always use it right before I cleanse just to get that extra dirt out of my pores.

Another Mask I love applying at night is my Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. This is such a good leave-on mask to wear overnight because it’s basically like a heavy-duty moisturizer. There is so much hype around Summer Fridays and that is for good reason. This leaves your skin feeling so soft + dewy in the morning. I also use this underneath my makeup sometimes if I am going for an extra dewy look. It works perfectly as a primer!

Check out all the products I mentioned here:

So you guys seemed to really like my last shop w/ me post so I decided I am going do these more often! I really enjoyed finding dupes for different trends so I thought I’d do one for more high-end items at a WAY cheaper price. I am personally not a designer brand kind of gal (just not my thing + my wallet is happy about it) but I will say, I do love the style of a few specific items. I tried to pick out stuff that I would actually purchase (at an affordable price) so hopefully you guys find this helpful + enjoy these dupes!

Read w/ Me: Fall Edition

IMG_3609

I decided that a bookish blog post is long overdue and since I am currently an ambassador for the Book Sparks Fall Reading Challenge, I thought I’d give you guys a little updated book list for fall. With that being said, I’ve been getting tons of questions all about Book Sparks and what exactly the challenge is, and basically they have just been sending me fall-themed books for the past month or so for me to read and share with you guys! I have really enjoyed this experience because I love finding new authors and so far, they have all been new to me! Not to mention, I am obsessed with true-crime and that sort of thing, and some of these books seriously have the best, spooky story lines. Along with the books from Book Sparks, I am going to include my favorite fall-themed books, so I hope you enjoy this post + comment some book recommendations below!

In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware:

I actually read this entire book on a flight home around Thanksgiving last year. It’s an easy read and honestly impossible to put down. I remember from start to finish, I was constantly wanting more. It’s a crime/mystery novel that takes place at a cabin in the woods so you can only imagine how spooky it is!

The Secret History by Donna Tartt:

I would consider this more of an advanced novel just because you really have to use your mind while reading it. It’s more complex but the story line is SO good and very compelling. It’s sort of a mystery/thriller.  It’s perfect read for fall!

The Night in Question by Nic Joseph:

This book was actually included in the fall reading challenge, and I have to say it stood out to me the most. It’s basically about an Uber ride gone wrong, and if that doesn’t make you wanna read it, I don’t know what will. I love the idea behind it because it’s so current and interesting. It’s definitely an easy + fun read for the fall time!

A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard:

If you’re someone who loves true-crime, then I highly recommend this book. This is a true story about a girl who was kidnapped for eighteen years of her life and survived to tell her story. She kept a diary throughout it all so it’s very interesting. This is a heavy topic and if you’re sensitive to that sort of stuff, I wouldn’t recommend reading because it gets very deep.

September Favorites

img_2911.png

So for the month of October, I am going to attempt to put up two blog posts per week (maybe more) so get ready for lot’s of content from me! I thought this would be the perfect intro into the new month with a little recap of products and favorites I was loving in September! img_2909-e1538523397783.png

img_2912.png

I am planning on doing an updated skincare / makeup routine blog post on it’s own so I just wanted to feature some of my ultimate favorites for this.

The first product I want to talk about is the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. This has been a cult-favorite this year, for good reason. It took me the longest time to try it out (mainly because it was always out of stock) but I finally picked it up and gave it a try. I’ll admit, my first reaction was that it reminded me of toothpaste — it has a minty scent / thick texture. After using it overnight, I was amazed at how soft and moisturized my skin felt! I have fairly normal-to-dry skin so I found this stuff to be super helpful for that. Even though it’s considered a mask, I love using it as my daily moisturizer… it’s just that good!

Next, I wanted to mention a fun little brand I discovered on Instagram. I feel like I’m always seeing ads on my feed for smaller skincare/body brands similar to this so I thought it’d be interesting to give you guys a little insight on how I actually feel about their products. Anese is a skin/body care brand that specializes in booty care. Yes, you read that right. They have a bunch of different scrubs and lotions for your bum. I wanted to mention that + I will link those products below if you’re interested! However, I decided to test out their new skincare SLAY serum for your face! I have been loving this product. I usually apply it under my moisturizer before my makeup! I personally think it’s super important to hydrate your skin before applying a full-face of makeup, because it applies sooo much smoother and lasts way longer.

If you haven’t already heard of Wander Beauty, get ready for a huge spiel from me because I have been obsessed with their products! They are a cruelty-free beauty brand that carries makeup/skincare. I am planning on featuring a couple different products from them in my makeup routine but for this post I wanted to share their eye masks with you guys! They are so easy to apply, you can seriously do it anywhere! I love these.

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Foil Eye Masks

Lastly, I wanted to mention two primers that I have been loving! Similar to moisturizer, I honestly believe in using primer. I know a lot of people have different opinions on whether or not it actually works but personally my skin needs all the hydration it can get! I notice a difference when I use primer versus when I don’t so that’s why I love it! You guys know I love Smashbox primers so I decided to pick up this Radiance once. It honestly reminds me of my Glam Glow Mega Illuminating Moisturizer, so I am super stoked about that.

Smashbox Radiance Primer

Another product that I am long overdue to test out is the MAC Prep and Prime Fix+ spray. This stuff smells so dang good and works amazingly! Personally, I can’t do my highlighter without some sort of primer spray so I really love this! It sets your makeup and leaves it looking super hydrated.

This was a hard section to pick for because I feel like I am still transitioning into my fall closet and I want to a do a fall style report so I just decided to go with some accessories that I’ve been loving.

I think these KDB boots might just be my favorite pair of shoes I’ve ever owned! I am seriously obsessed with this style. White boots are so cute for fall because they bring a lil pop of color to any outfit! I am super excited to style these.

Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn Boots

Similar Style – I love these for everyday wear!

I have been meaning to pick up a mini backpack and I was so excited to find this one at Brandy Melville. This goes with every outfit and it’s SO convenient. I will see if I can find the exact link to this one but I will be sure to link some of my other favorites below.

Lastly, I wanted to mention some undergarments that I have been obsessed with. This might sound so weird to feature in a monthly favorites post but these are so comfy + amazing to sleep in! Richer Poorer also has t shirts + socks so I highly recommend checking their stuff out. Their products are super high quality and soft!

I have a few different things for my lifestyle favorites but first I wanna talk about this perfume I’ve been loving from by Rosie Jane. They recently released their new scent Angie, which is a mix of honeysuckle + fig. I am obsessed! It’s the perfect light scent for fall.

I am so excited to announce that I am partnered up with Olly. Olly is a vitamin brand sold at Target that I’ve honestly been using forever! I think my mom originally introduced me to their brand last year + I have been using them every since. They are gummies so they’re super easy to take daily + they have a decent taste to them. As a full-time student, I have been loving their laser focus/ goodbye stress vitamins. These are so helpful and I seriously think they make a difference!

Lastly, Califia Farms is my go-to almond milk / creamer brand. I have been using their stuff forever! I will admit I am not a huge pumpkin spice fan but every year around this time I give it another shot because I want to get in to the fall spirit. I picked this one up at my local Von’s and I was pleasantly surprised! It’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t like that intense pumpkin flavor. It’s a subtle taste, which I love. I highly recommend adding this to your fall morning routine.
